Stallion-Duck

A symphony of sound as the city sleeps. The lazy swish of tire on asphalt accompanies the off-key howling of the mangy strays. Tonight it's a duet, as the keening wails of a baby drift from a broken window of a rundown apartment. This lonely song stabs its way into the cool, crisp midnight air. The crowds have long since ebbed away to just a lone figure, crumpled under a blanket of newspaper, a bottle in hand, enjoying the midnight show. He is the homeless, the hopeless. His name is 'get a job', 'get a life' and 'get lost'. The baby has been soothed and the dogs have slipped into the discarded boxes and buildings, but the show must go on.
